Farmill River Falls sits in Pine Rock Park at the Shelton–Stratford line, where the Far Mill River drops in a series of small cascades over glacial ledge into two sizable swimming pools, among the largest in Connecticut for a spot this size. The main drop is only about 6 feet, so this is a wade-and-cool-off hole rather than a serious cliff jump. Reach it via the Gristmill Trail off Mill Street or Wells Spring Open Space off Farmill Crossing on the Shelton side; the Stratford-side parking and unofficial trails have been fenced off and restricted to residents since 2020, so stick to the marked Shelton access points. Water runs tannin-dark with occasional foam from decaying upstream vegetation — normal, but check clarity before diving in. Flow and depth vary seasonally.
