About this spot
March Cataract Falls is a roughly 30-foot fan of water on the western slope of Mount Greylock, inside Mount Greylock State Reservation. Standard access is via Sperry Road/Sperry Campground off Rockwell Road, then about a half-mile on the March Cataract Trail. Multiple hiking guides describe cliff jumping into the swimming hole at the base, best visited April-November. Owner-flag: AllTrails currently lists the March Cataract Falls Trail as closed, while several other guides (Komoot, Backroad Ramblers) describe hiking it as of 2025 with no closure mentioned — status is inconsistent across sources and should be confirmed with Mass DCR before promoting to a certified green listing.
