About this spot
Chestnut Cove Branch Falls is a roughly 55-ft sliding cascade on North Harper Creek in the Harper Creek Wilderness Study Area of Pisgah National Forest, near where Chestnut Cove Branch joins the creek (the falls itself is on North Harper Creek, not literally on Chestnut Cove Branch, despite the name). It's reached by a roughly 2.6-mile out-and-back documented across several independent hiking sources, including trip reports with photos. This is remote, unmarked backcountry with stream crossings and no cell signal. No swimming or jumping culture is documented; treat current strength and submerged rock at the base as unconfirmed.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
