About this spot
Hunt Fish Sidekick Falls is a minor cascade, roughly 50 feet on a low-flow tributary of Lost Cove Creek, passed en route to the better-known Hunt Fish Falls in Pisgah National Forest near Mortimer. Access follows the popular, well-reviewed Hunt Fish Falls Trail from a Forest Service trailhead off Pineola Road. The sidekick falls parallels the main trail for much of the route but is described as unimpressive except after heavy rain, and most hikers continue on to the two-tiered main falls instead. No cliff-jumping or swimming-hole culture is documented specifically at this tributary; treat wet rock as slick.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
