About this spot

Huskey Branch Falls is a 20-foot, multi-tiered cascade on the Little River Trail in the Elkmont section of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, about 2.2 miles from the Elkmont Campground trailhead where the trail crosses it on a footbridge. Below the lower tier, hikers find a sizeable natural pool documented by multiple guides as a popular family swimming hole; scrambling the mossy rocks reaches upper tiers. The moderate, mostly flat 4.3-mile round-trip follows the Little River with several unbridged crossings. Main hazard: slick, moss-covered rocks and higher flows after rain make footing treacherous near the falls. No fees or permits required for day hiking; park at Elkmont Campground and follow signage.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
