About this spot
Meigs Creek Cascade sits along the Meigs Creek Trail, which begins at The Sinks parking area on Little River Road in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Multiple trip reports and guides describe a swimming hole a short walk down the trail where the creek pools deep enough for cliff jumping, with a pebbly mid-stream island for sunbathing. The trail is known for numerous creek crossings, so water shoes help. Access is free, day-use only, with limited roadside parking that fills early on summer weekends. Main hazards: slippery rock ledges around the jump spots and currents that rise quickly after rain, which have caused injuries nearby at The Sinks; scout depth before jumping and never jump alone.
