About this spot
Baby Falls is a roughly 15-foot ledge drop on the Tellico River in Cherokee National Forest, a quarter mile past the larger Bald River Falls. From Tellico Plains, take TN-165 about five miles, turn right onto Forest Road 210 past the ranger station, and continue roughly six miles; free parking and a vault toilet sit right at the falls. Paddlers routinely run the ledge and swimmers slide off it into the plunge pool below. Flow is snowmelt- and rain-driven, so the ledge can run too shallow in late summer or dangerously pushy after storms; check river levels first. The rock is slick, algae-covered granite, and most injuries here come from slipping on approach rather than the drop itself.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
