About this spot
Willow Falls sits inside Willow River State Park, about 5 miles northeast of Hudson. From the Willow Falls Trail parking area, a short walk and a wooden stairway lead down into the gorge. The Willow River cascades over three rock ledges for roughly 45 feet into a pool, and visitors regularly wade, rock-hop, and swim in the pools at the base. The bigger hazard is footing and current, not height: wet rock ledges are slippery, and the channel near the falls can pull harder than it looks, which is why the park cautions against swimming directly in the strongest current. A Wisconsin state park vehicle sticker or day-use fee is required, and climbing on the gorge cliffs themselves is restricted to protect fragile vegetation. No jumping culture is documented here; treat it as a wade-and-swim spot.
