About this spot
Sycamore Falls sits along the Fiery Gizzard Trail in Grundy Forest/South Cumberland State Park near Tracy City, TN, about 1.3 miles from the trailhead on Fiery Gizzard Road via the Grundy Day Loop. It's a well-known local swimming hole, regularly recommended in regional hiking guides as a spot to bring a bathing suit and cool off after the hike, with a moderate, rocky pool at the base. Tennessee State Parks bans climbing or jumping from waterfalls and bluffs anywhere in the park system, and submerged rocks are a real hazard, so this is best treated as a wade-and-swim spot rather than a jumping cliff. Parking is free at the Grundy Forest day-use lot.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
